Read MoreClinical Assistant Professor Philip Pang is a Senior Consultant and Deputy Head (Cardiac) at the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery, National Heart Centre Singapore (NHCS). He completed his specialist training in cardiothoracic surgery in 2014 and was a recipient of the SingHealth Health Manpower Development Plan award in 2015. He completed a 1-year Advanced Cardiac Surgery Fellowship at Yale University and Yale-New Haven Hospital, USA, under the mentorship of renowned cardiac surgeons Dr John Elefteriades and Dr Sabet Hashim. He graduated from the National University of Singapore in 2007 and was awarded the SingHealth Best House Officer award in 2008. He obtained his postgraduate qualifications, MRCS (Edin), MMed (Surg) and FRCS (CTh) (Edin) in 2009, 2010 and 2015 respectively. As a researcher, his research interests include clinical outcomes of surgery for valvular heart disease (in particular mitral valve repair), coronary artery bypass surgery, heart failure surgery and extracorporeal life support. In 2013, he was awarded a SingHealth Foundation Startup Grant as principal investigator for the study of “Therapeutic Hypothermia in Adult Patients receiving Extracorporeal Life Support”. As the main or co-author, Clin Asst Prof Philip Pang has published 26 papers in peer-reviewed medical journals
