Professor Lars Søndergaard is a consultant cardiologist at Rigshospitalet – Copenhagen, Denmark. Professor of Cardiology at University of Copenhagen, he published over 300 peer reviewed articles, and more than 15 textbook chapters. His research interests are focused on adults with congenital heart diseases and catheter-based heart valve interventions, as well as congenital and structural heart diseases. He led the first-in-human transcatheter mitral valve implantation (CardiAQ) in 2012 and he actively participated to several trials, including NOTION (transcatheter vs. surgical aortic valve replacement in patients with aortic stenosis and low surgical risk), and the REDUCE randomised trial (PFO vs anti-platelet therapy after cryptogenic stroke).

Dr Andreas Rück is the head of the Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI) program at Karolinska University Hospital – Stockholm, Sweden and the chairman of the Swedish Percutaneous Valve Registry (a registry within the Swedish Heart Registries SWEDEHEART). He is member of the steering group of SWEDEHEART and of the Working group for PCI and Valve Interventions within the Swedish Society of Cardiology. His clinical specialties include PCI and percutaneous valve implantation.

Dr. Christopher U. Meduri is an interventional cardiologist at Karolinska University Hospital – Stockholm, Sweden. He is board certified in internal medicine and cardiology and a member of the American College of Cardiology. Dr. Meduri has special interest in optimizing care of patients with valvular heart disease. He has received multiple educational grants to improve care of patients with aortic valve disorders and developed a mobile application, Post-TAVR Optimization, to assist centers performing TAVR in post-procedure management.

Dr. Mohammed Nejjari is a specialist in valvular heart disease. He is the head of the department of interventional cardiology at Centre Cardiologique du Nord in Saint-Denis, France.

Dr. Nawzad Saleh is an associate professor, senior consultant, interventional cardiologist and head of Percutaneous Valve Intervention at Karolinska University Hospital – Stockholm, Sweden.

Dr. Marco Barbanti is an interventional cardiologist at the Cardiac-Thoracic-Vascular Department and Transplant, Azienda Ospedaliero Universitaria “Policlinico Vittorio Emanuele” in Catania and a research associate at the University of Catania. He has authored over 200 publications in the field of transcatheter aortic and mitral valve interventions in all first-tier cardiology journals. Dr. Barbanti is member of the Executive working group of the Italian OBSERVANT 1 and OBSERVANT 2 studies, and the principal investigator of several multicenter international studies and collaborations, including the RE-ACCESS study.

Prof. Thierry Lefèvre is Head of the Interventional Cardiology Department and Head of Research at the Cardiovascular Institute Paris-Sud (ICPS), Massy (France), France. His expertise include Interventional Cardiology and Valvular Heart Disease. He has a major interest in clinical research, having published over 726 scientific publications, and is a Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) and a Fellow of the Society for Angiography and Interventions.

Dr. Francesco Bedogni is the Director of the Clinical Cardiology, Interventional Cardiology and Intensive Care Unit at Policlinico San Donato Research Hospital. During his professional career he has managed or supervised more than 100.000 invasive cardiology procedures, 10.000 coronary angiographies, 500 peripheral angioplasties, 150 carotid stenting, 1.250 TAVR, 235 Mitraclip and 85 LAAO procedures. He has published over 250 scientific papers or abstracts. He is a European Proctor and KOL for several therapies for Medtronic, Abbott, Boston Scientific and Meril. He is also a consultant for these techniques in many Italian and foreign hospitals.

Prof. Dr. Ole De Backer is an internationally renowned interventional cardiologist working at Rigshospitalet, Copenhagen University Hospital, Denmark and is an expert in structural heart interventions (among others transcatheter heart interventions, percutaneous left atrial appendage closure and thoracic endovascular aortic repair). He is actively involved and leading several research projects in the field of transcatheter heart valves and percutaneous left atrial appendage closure.

Matthias Gotberg, MD, PhD works as an interventional cardiologist and Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Lab at Skane University Hospital, Lund, Sweden. Dr. Gotberg has also been a member of the SCAAR steering committee since 2011. Dr. Gotberg has been principal investigator/investigator of numerous clinical trials, has authored or co-authored more than 70 publications in peer-reviewed journals, and is a recognized international expert within the field of coronary physiology and Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement.

Professor Michal O. Zembala is Head of the Department of Cardiac Surgery, Heart and Lung Transplantation and Mechanical Circulatory Support of the Silesian Center For Heart Diseases in Zabrze, Poland and Director of Heart Transplantation in Silesian Center For Heart Diseases, Zabrze. He is a visiting professor of Surgery at the Pomeranian Medical University – Szczecin, Poland, certified by the European Board of Cardiovascular Surgery, with 12-year clinical experience in cardiovascular procedures (mainly complex cardiac reoperations including aortic disease). Proficient in transcatheter, transfemoral valvular procedures (aortic and mitral) and minimally invasive surgical approaches, he is Director of Transcatheter Therapies of Structural Heart Diseases, Silesian Center For Heart Diseases, Zabrze, Poland. He has been awarded for the best clinical research by Foundation for Cardiac Surgery Development and named the 6th Best Medical Young Professional in Poland.

Dr. Abdel-Wahab is an Internationally renowned interventional cardiologist specialized in TAVI and complex coronary interventions. Head of the department of structural heart disease at Heart Center Leipzig, the largest European center in terms of number of TAVI procedures. Professor Abdel-Wahab has contributed to over 200 papers in the field of interventional cardiology in high profile peer review journals.

Dr. Daniel Blackman is one of the leading interventional cardiologists in the United Kingdom and the lead for interventional cardiology in Leeds, which is the largest cardiac centre in the country. He is the Honorary Secretary of the British Cardiovascular Intervention Society. He has earned a national and international reputation in trans-catheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI), having trained specialists throughout the UK, Europe, USA and Japan in performing TAVI. Dr Blackman is also experienced in all aspects of clinical cardiology including chest pain, coronary artery disease, palpitation, valvular heart disease, and heart failure. Dr Blackman has a major interest in clinical research, having published over 80 scientific publications, and is a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Leeds.

Dr Mirvat Alasnag was the first female interventional cardiologist in the Gulf region and represented women on multiple committees. She is currently the Chair of the International Working Group of the ACC Women in Cardiology Committee, a member of the SCAI Board of Trustees and ACC Interventional Leadership Council. She is also the chair of the Interventional Cardiology working group of the Tele-Cardiology Section of the International Society for Telemedicine & eHealth. She is a contributing editor & associate editor for several renowned international journals and societies including Circulation: Cardiovascular Interventions, ACCEL, Open Heart, Cardiovascular Revascularization Medicine, and PCROnline. She has served as a peer reviewer for several ACC Guideline Statements.
