Professor Zaman was appointed in 2001 and awarded Honorary Professor of Cardiology by Newcastle... Professor Zaman was appointed in 2001 and awarded Honorary Professor of Cardiology by Newcastle University in 2013. Following graduation at Leeds Medical School, he completed postgraduate training in cardiology at regional centres in Leeds, London and Cardiff. He was a Fulbright Scholar and British Heart Foundation International Fellow in 1998 to study vascular biology at Mount Sinai Medical Center, New York. Professor Zaman is the Clinical Lead for Coronary Intervention and Director of the Cardiac Catheter Laboratories. In 2012 he was appointed Specialty Group Lead for Cardiovascular Research. Prof. Zaman has an interest in clinical research with a particular interest in atherothrombosis in diabetes and clinical trials.

Dr Mirvat Alasnag was the first female interventional cardiologist in the Gulf region and represented women on multiple committees. She is currently the Chair of the International Working Group of the ACC Women in Cardiology Committee, a member of the SCAI Board of Trustees and ACC Interventional Leadership Council. She is also the chair of the Interventional Cardiology working group of the Tele-Cardiology Section of the International Society for Telemedicine & eHealth. She is a contributing editor & associate editor for several renowned international journals and societies including Circulation: Cardiovascular Interventions, ACCEL, Open Heart, Cardiovascular Revascularization Medicine, and PCROnline. She has served as a peer reviewer for several ACC Guideline Statements.
