Anne-Marie Baird

Dr Anne-Marie Baird is a molecular biologist, who has worked extensively on mesothelioma and lung cancer. Her research interests are in inflammation, the metastatic cascade, drug resistance and disease biomarkers. She is currently a Senior Research Fellow in Trinity College Dublin, Ireland. On a personal level, Anne-Marie has also been affected by lung cancer, as both her Grandmother and aunt died from the disease. She became involved in lung cancer patient advocacy, starting with her participation in the lung cancer social media (#LCSM) community in 2012. Since then Anne-Marie has been active in the advocacy space, becoming president of Lung Cancer Europe (LuCE) in May 2020.

LuCE is a non-profit umbrella organisation with members from over 20 countries. LuCE aims to be the voice of people impacted by lung cancer at a European level, advocating for improvements in lung cancer diagnostics, treatment, and care. Anne-Marie is also the current Chair of the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC) Communications committee and has been involved in their STARS (Supportive Training for Advocates in Research and Science) program.
