H. Vernon Anderson

Dr. Anderson is Professor of Medicine in the Cardiology Division at the University of Texas Health Science Center, McGovern Medical School, in Houston. His interests include acute coronary syndromes and ischemic heart disease, as well as clinical outcomes research in all forms of cardiovascular interventions. Dr. Anderson received his undergraduate degree in electrical engineering and computer science from Georgia Tech, and his MS degree in electrical engineering and computer science from Stanford University. He received his medical degree from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, where he also undertook his cardiology and interventional fellowships. Dr. Anderson has over 20 years of experience editing major cardiovascular journals: 11 years as an Associate Editor of Circulation (1993-2004), and 9 years as an Associate Editor of JACC–Cardiovascular Interventions (2008-2017). He helped establish the ACC-NCDR, which oversees some of the largest cardiovascular databases in the world. In 2014 Dr. Anderson received the Distinguished Service Award from the American College of Cardiology.
