Ronald Allen Ligon

Ronald Allen Ligon, MD, is a pediatric and adult congenital interventional cardiologist at the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Heart Center and is an assistant professor at Emory University School of Medicine. He received his undergraduate degree in Exercise and Sport Science from the University of Georgia. He attended medical school at Mercer University School of Medicine in Savannah, and then completed a pediatrics residency at Atrium Health: Levine Children’s Hospital. He completed requirements for designation as a Fellow of the Academy of Wilderness Medicine, then pediatric and interventional cardiology/catheterization fellowships at Emory University - Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. He is board certified in general pediatrics, pediatric cardiology, and adult congenital heart disease.

Dr. Ligon works with pediatric as well as adult congenital heart disease patients and performs interventional catheter-based procedures. He remains involved in clinical outcomes research and the development of innovative minimally-invasive procedures and technologies. He believes it is an honor and a privilege to help a patient and family navigate life with congenital heart disease and the process of undergoing any cardiac procedure. At the center of his work remains the goal for all congenital heart disease patients to live their longest, most quality life, and he believes that minimally-invasive catheterization procedures can help many achieve that goal.
